Probationary Appointment / 12-month position

Reports to:
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction and the Superintendent of Schools

Job Summary:

  • The Director of Secondary Education is a district level position that reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction and the Superintendent of Schools.   The Director of Secondary Education shall have general responsibility for all aspects of the development, implementation, and update of secondary education curriculum. S/he will supervise all secondary educational programs and services and work closely with the building administrators and department coordinators to implement the programs.

 

 

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • State Education Department Certification - SDA or SDL

  • Minimum of five years’ administrative experience, with Central Office level work preferred

  • Ability to effectively manage time and fiscal resources 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Extensive knowledge of secondary programs

  • Extensive knowledge of differentiated instruction and instructional strategies

  • Demonstrated use of data and research focused on improving student achievement

  • Knowledge and effective use of technology in instruction, management, and communication

  •  

  • Demonstrates experience in building partnerships and resources and a willingness to work with various community partners

  • Strong and collaborative leadership with an honest, transparent, and inclusive style that supports high student outcomes and educational excellence

  • Leverages deep knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to improve student learning

  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally

  • Knowledge about the implementation and supervision of the APPR process

  • Knowledge and understanding on building master schedules

  • Knowledge of grants and grant writing
