Qualifications:
Valid NYS SDA/SBA Certification or NYS SDBL Certification
Candidates must demonstrate experience as a successful and visible leader in the following areas:
Public-school finance, budget development and business office operations
Fiscal planning, long-term financial planning and capital improvement projects
Payroll, accounts payable, purchasing, benefits and inventory control
Investments, insurance, debt services and district borrowing
Fiscal reporting, audits and negotiations
Ability to effectively manage time and fiscal resources
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Job Summary:
The Assistant Superintendent for Business is the chief administrator of the business and financial functions of the school district; reports to Superintendent of Schools, provides direction to administrators and staff with respect to business and financial affairs; prepares, makes recommendations, and handles business and financial matters for the Board of Education meetings; represents school district with respect to business affairs before State, Federal, County and Town agencies, auditors, vendors, employee organizations, citizen groups such as PTO, and community residents; conducts long term financial planning.
Essential Job Functions:
The Assistant Superintendent for Business and Finance is responsible for developing and promoting practices which are both fiscally and educationally sound. Responsibilities included, but are not limited to the following.
Establish strategic and systematic processes to provide guidance and leadership to Business and Finance Department.
Develops, presents and implements the annual budget, including administrating a budget control system.
Responsible for all business affairs of the district
District accounting functions, payroll, accounts payable, purchasing, inventory control, estimates receipts and tax rate relating to proposed budget, investments, insurance, benefits, debt service, and district borrowing, works with the district clerk on organizing and running the annual budget vote and bond votes.
Actively supervises the following departments: Transportation, Buildings & Grounds and Food Services.
Responsible for the provision of fiscal reports to the State, Board of Education, Audit committees, and auditors.
Provides fiscal information about the District to the Board of Education, State & Federal agencies, BOCES, and to the public.
Conducts long-term financial planning. Relates annual budget to long-term financial plans; revises and updates long-term financial plans annually.
Participate in negotiations and management of all contracts.
