Job Description

Position: Department Coordinator (10)

High School - one (1) coordinator for each of the following departments (Math, Science, English, Social Studies, World Language)

Middle School - one (1) coordinator for each of the following departments (Math, Science, English, Social Studies, World Language)

Start Date: September 1, 2025

Salary: Per the agreement between the District and the Riverhead Central Faculty Association (RCFA), Coordinators will receive ten and a half percent (10.5%) of Step 1 of the Master's column of the existing teachers' salary schedule.

Reports to: Building Principal & Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • New York State Teaching Certification in the specific content area.

  • New York State Certification as School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) or School Building Leader (SBL) Preferred but not required.

  • Minimum of six years of exemplary teaching experience in the content area.

 

Terms of Employment:

  • Work Year: September 1 – June 30 

    • However, such personnel may satisfy this requirement, all or in part, with administrative approval, by working an equivalent number of days in July and August. Such personnel shall also work whatever time is necessary beyond the regular school day to adequately perform their duties.




 

  • Salary: 

    • Per the agreement between the District and the Riverhead Central Faculty Association (RCFA), Coordinators will receive ten and a half percent (10.5%) of Step 1 of the Master's column of the existing teachers' salary schedule.

  • Work Day:

    • Coordinators will teach four periods, approximately three hours, and have one planning period daily. The balance of the school day shall be devoted to departmental duties.

    • Teachers serving in any of the above capacities shall be given no other regular assignment.

    • Coordinators will participate in two professional activity periods per week or may be included as part of the pool of teachers for an additional instructional period

  • Working Conditions: 

    • Aligned with the agreement between the District and the Riverhead Central Faculty Association (RCFA)

    • Coordinators may be designated by the Board to observe and/or evaluate personnel covered by this Agreement. All evaluators must have appropriate supervisory certification.

  • Membership: 

    • Riverhead Central Faculty Association


 

Job Summary:

The Department Coordinator serves as an instructional leader for their respective department, providing guidance, oversite of budget, supplies, assessments, curriculum coordination, and program innovation to ensure that all students receive a high-quality education aligned with the latest content area standards and instructional best practices. The Coordinator works collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction and Building Principal to support and enhance student achievement through effective teaching and learning.
