Position: Director of Health, Physical Education & Athletics
Start Date: July 1, 2025 or as soon as practical
Salary: Commensurate with Experience
Reports to: Superintendent of Schools
Qualifications:
New York State Education Department Certification – Physical Education, Health and SDA (School District Administrator) or SDL
Minimum of six years of teaching and coaching experience required
Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices and research in the fields of physical education, health & athletics
Experience with athletic competition scheduling
Advanced knowledge of education law and regulations governing areas relevant to position
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively manage time and fiscal resources
Strong and collaborative leadership with an honest, transparent, and inclusive style that supports high student outcomes and educational excellence
Demonstrates experience in building partnerships and resources and a willingness to work with various community partners
Outstanding oral and written communication skills with the ability to welcome interaction with all members of the school community (students, teachers, families) and the community at large to advance the school’s mission/vision
Job Summary:
The Director of Health, Physical Education & Athletics reports to the Superintendent of Schools and/or designee. The Director of Health, Physical Education & Athletics is responsible for all aspects of the Health and Physical Education programs & all aspects of the Athletic program; managing implementation of Board policies; coordinate district practices to be consistent with federal and state law; Program budget management; etc. The Director of Health, Physical Education & Athletics maintains all records for his/her departments. Supervises and evaluates PE and health teachers and coaches.
